Not what I usually blog about but after one year on twitter i thought I would vent some of my frustrations with it. Or rather some of its users. Here are the 10 ways some twitter users have driven me nuts during that time:
- They ask a question. You reply. They ignore you.
- They retweet the fact you retweeted them. It is a bit weird and needy.
- They unfollow you for tweeting too much or all in one go. What is the point of following people who never tweet anything?
- They never thank you for sharing their blog post.
- They never talk back. They write something. You comment. They ignore you.
- They are never actually on twitter but churn out loads of tweets using hootsuite or other programme. It's fine sometimes but you do actually need to be there as well.
- They always agree. It's OK to have a different opinion. Really it is.
- They spout pretentious drivel. If you can say it in one sentence, it unlikely to be that profound.
- They retweet others who spout pretentious drivel.
- They write something. You reply. They ignore you. (I know I did this before but it really bugs me).
OK. Rant over. I am sure that I have done all of these myself but as I have got to understand twitter more, the thing I value most is the conversation, the meeting new people with interesting ideas. I also love all the great content I've been directed to. But it should be a two way thing. Not just shouting in the dark. What do you think?
